Merci Tim Watts!

Dear Climbing Community,

As previously stated, Maya was an absolute GEM of a human being. Anyone that had the good fortune to cross paths with her was immediately swept off of their feet. Her radiant smile, her starry eyes, her infectious laugh - all qualities that reflected her character, her soul. It is with immense sadness that we no longer have her with us, physically. I spoke to her parents a few minutes ago, and while everyone is obviously devesated, I can't not say enough about the love, and happiness we shared during our conversation. Her family are evidently amazing people, and a big hug, and love to them for putting such an incredible person on this earth.

As far as the accident, I don't know any details, nor did I bother to ask. All will come to light, but lets let time do its work, and most importantly its healing.

To all of you out there who are connected to Maya, I feel your pain. This sucks, always does, always will. I feel arrested with grief. I want to cry, break something, shout into a microphone about how amazing of a person we lost - do something, anything to extricate myself from the infinite pain of losing someone I love. It will never be enough, no matter what I do. Mending this is impossible, and while friends, family, loved ones, and mountains heal, the pain is excruciatlingly indelible. That said, please connect with those you love, and share your pain, and your joy in respect to Maya. She would be there for all of us, so let’s be here for each other.

If anyone needs to talk, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
